Top 5 Reasons to Switch to Blade Irons

Blade Irons

We all know when we first started golfing the most important thing was to make contact with the golf ball. We didn’t care whether it went straight left or right, we only cared about how it felt. Once we were able to start making good contact with the ball we started to focus on how to play to the shot we usually hit. From there we learn to shape our shot more and more until we become consistent.

The majority of golfers when starting out will play with cavity back irons. The reason being is to make sure the face of the club is making contact. When playing with cavity backs you usually will hit the ball solid but get little to no spin, and little to no shape with your ball flight. The only irons you are really able to get those benefits with are blade style irons. I am going to give you 5 reasons to switch immediately to blades.

  1. The sooner you pick up blade irons the sooner you learn to shape your shot and become a better player
  2. If you are developing your golf game with cavity backs, when you finally decide to switch to blades it is going to feel like you just started playing golf again.
  3. You will learn how to get the right amount of spin with your irons.
  4. You will learn how to shape your shot to a draw or fade.
  5. When people see you play with blade irons they will think you are a good golfer.

Although lets not forget to point out, and discuss just a few of the cons when switching to blades. When you make that switch you will feel like everything you have learned for your approach game will be mixed up. You will have to re learn how to hit irons for the most part. If your swing isn’t somewhat fundamentally sound, you will learn really quick what you need to fix. If you already hit a fade, then get ready for playing a slice for a month or two. Your ball flight will be exaggerated in all forms of iron play.

Get ready to impress your friends and collogues when you stick one on the green 5 feet from the pin with a massive ball mark because of the spin your getting. Don’t better your golf game with beginner clubs. Start improving your golf game like the pros do, and make that switch to blades.
